In my opinion, standardized testing rarely reflects the student’s overall potential because there are so many situational variables that happens within test day that could absolutely impact students’ performance during tests. And in my personal opinion, to say that in that specific day that student’s knowledge represents their entire year’s worth of studying for example is quite, how to say it, it’s quite counterproductive to be honest because let’s say that this person has done multiple mock tests in previous months and they’ve done and they’ve done quite good in those mock tests but then on the exam day like coincidentally something has happened for them to have for them to have their behavior or to have their skills impacted, for example, anxiety attacks. And this results in less performance or less satisfactory performance, which obviously detrimentally impacts their test results. And it’s unfair to say that the final results or this test defines their current academic or like their current skills or their overall potential, because we never know if that’s truly representative of their efforts and their general potential because in that specific day there are random things that could be happening.
