Every individual has their own choice. Apart from this, I believe that older people prefer to stay home as they are unable to go out due to cognitive dysfunctions like hearing loss, lack of concentration, and balance issues, while younger people feel more comfortable at home and mostly engage themselves using smartphones and watching TV.
