I come from a country in the Himalayas, Nepal. In my country, we have a special festival called Dashain and Tihar. Tihar, in the Hindi language, is called Diwali. Our traditions, and the Hindu traditions of people from India, are quite similar. During these festivals, all generations in a family come together. We put a tika on our forehead. The tika is a Nepali word, and it's a tilak, which is placed on the forehead between the eyes. It's made of rice, yogurt, and red powder. All generations of the family come together, share stories about their lives, and discuss their hopes for the future. The three generations often play cards together and enjoy talking about their everyday lives. These festivals are a time for families to reconnect and celebrate their shared culture and heritage.
