One of my absolute favorite dish is Kheer, a delicious rice pudding that holds a special place in my heart, especially during Eid. Eid is a significant festival celebrated by Muslims all around the world marking the end of Ramadan. It is a time of joy and gratitude and sweet dishes like Kheer plays a central role in celebration as families gather to share this delightful treat and create wonderful memories together. So how is Kheer made? It’s quite a simple process but requires some care. First we soak rice for a while and then cook it in our rice until it becomes creamy and thick. Once it reaches the right consistency, sugar is added for sweetness. Along with the cardamoms for that aromatic touch. To make it even more special, nuts like the cashews and almonds are sprinkled on top. Some people also like to add raisins and saffron for an extra rust of flavor and royal touch. The end result is rich creamy desert that is simply irresistible. What I really love about Kheer is not just the taste but also the feeling it evokes. It reminds me of the joyous family gathering during Eid. Where laughter fills the air and everyone is happily indulging in the festivities. There is an element of nostalgia attached to it as I have found memories of my grandmother stirring the pot while sharing stories about family traditions. So enjoying Kheer during Eid isn’t just about the food, it’s really about coming together celebrating our heritage and cherishing the movements with loved ones. Every spoonful transports me back to those festive moments making it all time favorite food during the cherished events.
