Last summer I had an unforgettable experience but unfortunately it started with a major blunder of my part. I was all geared up for some of the times in Singapore which I had been looking forward to for ages. But in the midst of the excitement and rush, I completely forgot to pack my headphones. This might seem trivial to some but to me has fallen out of Zen so… Especially when traveling. The morning of my departure was a wild wind. I had to get everything really quickly because I was running a bit late to catch my flight. I rushed through my parking making sure I had all the important documents and clothes. But I totally overlooked my headphones which were lying right on my desk. I was so reoccupied with the thought of not missing my flight that I just couldn’t focus on the little things. Once I landed in Singapore and reached the calm, the reality of my forgetfulness hit me hard. The calm was filled with so much noise. There were parties and activities happening around me. And I found it impossible to escape the chaos. All I want was to unwind and listen to some calming music to get my bearings in instead. I felt completely hopeless because the un-muched noise from the parties kept me awake at night making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. My craving for a peaceful escape was the most unbearable. In hindsight, forgetting my headphones turned out to be an interesting lesson. While I felt overwhelmed at the time, I also learned to adapt and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the calm. Even without my usual ways of turning out the chaos. Eventually, I found ways to connect with others and embrace the experience. But I’ll never forget that feeling of desperation when I realized that my mistake.
