I think it's important to learn at least some basic phrases in the language of the country you're visiting. Even if you can't become fluent, learning simple words like "thank you," "you're welcome," or "how can I get to..." can go a long way. It shows respect for the local culture and can make communication easier. While English is widely spoken in many places, it's not a universal language. There are still many people who don't speak English, and it can be frustrating for both parties when communication is limited. The need to learn the local language really depends on the country you're visiting. For example, in the Netherlands, most people speak English, so it's not essential to learn Dutch. However, in countries like Germany or France, where English isn't as widely spoken, it's more helpful to know at least some basic phrases in the local language. It's important to remember that people have the right to speak their own language, and it's respectful to try to communicate in their language when possible.
Actual audio transcript (What native speakers are likely to hear):

I think, um, we can’t learn a big part of the language, but we can learn just a specific words like, thank you. You’re welcome, or how can I go to this place? Something like that. Because we don’t have a common language. That’s why we can’t understand each other very well if we don’t use a common language like English. Unfortunately, uh, there are so many people who don’t know English, and we can’t communicate these kinds of person. That’s why we have to use the language. We visit it. And also, this situation is depending on which country we. We go to. Because if we go to the Netherlands, probably we don’t have to learn any dutch words because everyone nearly knows the English. But if you went to Germany or France, probably we have to use German or French because they don’t want to talk with you in English. This is their perspective. I’m, um. Respect them, but they don’t want to. They just want to use their own language when they are speaking.
