I think parents should help their kids understand that they truly care about what they say. This will definitely make kids want to talk more, in my mind. The first and most important thing parents should do for this is to give their full attention when their children speak. To me, this means parents should look at their children, and more importantly, listen to the end without interrupting. Of course, I think parents can respond, but only to naturally contribute to the conversation and show they are interested in it, rather than to impose their opinion. I believe that this will make children feel completely confident that they will be allowed to express their opinions. It's like the more freedom and attention they receive, the less scared they will be to express their opinions and ask questions.
