Well, in my experience, I would say that picking up a new language is very important in my country. The key basis for my opinion is that learning a foreign language opens up more opportunities like career prospects, job promotions, higher salaries, and other factors. When I need to find results for my academic studies at school, I usually check academic materials because they have more references and are more reliable. So, if one wants to be a part of integration and globalization, you have to master English or at least have basic communication skills in English.
