I'm actually in two minds about this opinion because, first of all, there’s a saying in physics that opposite poles attract. So, I think that having the same interests as your friends doesn't matter. What matters is that you actually put your time and effort into researching and finding out more about your friends' interests. However, it is good for friends to have the same interests because I found that people who share the same interests usually get along better. For instance, I have this one friend who is watching a survival show that I'm currently watching, and I find it really easy to start a casual conversation with her. I don't have to think hard every time I start a conversation with her, and we just get along very well. We share a lot.
