Band 6+: Talk about a pet that you or someone you know once had. You should say: • what kind of animal it was • what you liked/ didn't like about it, and why. • how people in your country generally feel about it. • and explain what kind of animal makes a good pet.

Technically, I'm a huge fan of pets, but since I was a little girl, my mother never gave me a chance to have one. She strongly believed that pets would make me ill. However, my brother convinced her to buy him a dog. Two years ago, my mother bought him a dog, and it was a super cute, fluffy, and playful dog. It was really intelligent. Yet, personally, I didn't like something about it. For example, it didn't know where to pee, and it was very picky about food. After a while, my brother got tired of it and gave it away. I believe that the majority of people in Iran think that pets, especially dogs, are dirty and bring a lot of diseases. I don't believe that. I think it all depends on how you take care of them. However, this perception has changed over time. Nowadays, most people have pets, especially cats and dogs. But there are still some who hold onto the stereotype about having dogs and cats around the house, so they prefer to have other animals as pets, like rabbits, chickens, or even dogs. They are popular as well.
