Well, I would say that the potential consequences of the growing gap between the rich and the poor could be that rich people could become richer while poor people could become poorer and won't have the possibility to eat and drink. They would be considered poor, and this could be a really big problem in many societies, such as in Africa or Asia, where this gap is bigger than in other societies.
