However, it’s sad to see that Songgran has become so commercialized that it’s unofficially known as this massive water festival where people would just play loud music, day drink, and splash water with each other without knowing the original meaning. This means that some traditions such as paying respect to the elders would soon be forgotten. So yeah, celebrations have definitely changed around the world, some for worse, not for the better, which is really sad.
