In my opinion, individuals have an extremely big role in preserving endangered languages. This is because the idea of languages is that it's a way for people of a certain ethnic background to communicate with each other. Since languages are extremely old, they are passed down from generation to generation. Endangered languages were once very commonly spoken, but now they are minimized and very rare to hear. Individuals definitely have a huge responsibility because people who may speak the languages, if they choose not to teach them to their children, that's a whole generation lost in not knowing how to speak the language. Additionally, fewer people knowing the language means that there will be less awareness of the fact that the language is endangered. If there are fewer people who know the language, they might not be willing to try spreading awareness, as they might assume that people don't care anymore.
