Band 4+: when you go shopping, do you prefer to pay for things in cash or card why?

Your pronunciation is average. It is understandable but not always accurate. Focusing on the rhythm and stress patterns of English could prove beneficial.

The answer directly addresses the question and provides a clear preference. However, the response is somewhat brief. To improve, try to expand on your reasons by explaining how the contactless feature benefits you in daily life, such as saving time or providing convenience. Additionally, avoid repetitive sentence structures; instead of using several short, simple sentences, try to combine your ideas using subordinating conjunctions to create more complex structures. The response could be expanded as it currently feels quite brief.

The answer is very brief and lacks development. While you answered the question directly, a Band 9 candidate would expand on 'why' by providing more details or examples (e.g., mentioning convenience, speed, or security). To improve, try to use connecting words like 'furthermore' or 'for instance' to extend your response.

The vocabulary is very limited. You used 'amazing,' which is a common word. Additionally, the raw transcript shows significant phonetic errors ('pain' instead of 'paying' and 'Contalix' instead of 'contactless'). While the refined version corrects these, in a real exam, mispronouncing key terms can lower your score. Try to learn collocations related to shopping, such as 'seamless transactions' or 'digital payments'.

The grammatical structure is very basic, consisting of short, simple sentences. There is a grammatical error in the raw version ('love pain by a card' instead of 'love paying by card'). To reach higher bands, you need to use complex sentence structures, such as: 'I prefer using a card rather than cash because contactless technology makes the process much faster.'
