In what ways has technology changed how people make and maintain friendships?

From my perspective, technology is positively affecting the maintenance of friendship for most people. It allows for easier connection as social media has individual with other with similar interest rates. Regardless of distance or time, concepts, however, maintain these connections often involves sharing aspects of life through video and making an extensive list of friends.
