The table and the bar graph illustrate the average minutes per day the men and women spent in their leisure activities and in household chaos in the UK in 2008.
Overall, both men and women pass their free time with TV, video, and radio more than other activities. Among household activities, men and women spend most of the minutes per day for cooking and washing.
Men were most likely to spend minutes enjoying TV, video, and radio, followed by 137 minutes each day, while women passed 118 minutes. Allocating time for reading in leisure time was quite similar. However, men allocated 15 minutes per day to sports, and women also accounted for 11 minutes in the same activity.
Turning to the bar chart, cooking and washing contributed the first place for which people spent their minutes, men for nearly 75 minutes and women only 30 minutes.
The second sector was shopping, though the time spent on shopping had decreased significantly for men compared to cooking and washing work; a slight change occurred for women. Around 20 minutes and 10 minutes passed for repairing. While only 10 minutes’ time cost for clothes washing and ironing by the women, men spent about 30 minutes for the same activity.
