The following bar chart delineates the proportion of students studying to play four musical instruments, particularly violin, guitar, piano, drums in three different years 2005, 2010 and 2015. Overall, it can be seen that except violin, the remain three instruments saw an upward trend with guitar was the highest, from 10 percent to 40 percent within ten years.
In 2005, piano was the most-played instruments among pupils with the proportion of 12 percent, just slighly higher than guitar and violin when both instruments stood at the rate of 10 percent and above. The least popular instrument was drums with just 5 percent students interested.
In 2010 and 2015, there was a dramatic rise in the proporion of guitar and piano. While the figures for piano was almost doubled from 20 percent to nearly 40 percent, guitar even saw a more impressive improvement as it surpassed piano to be on top. Another change was drums witnessed a slighlty rise from 5 percent to 7 percent while violin fall to under 5 percent.
