The given map illustrates the changes which occurred in the Ryemouth village from 1995 to present times. Looking from an overall perspective, it can be seen that the accommodation area has grown significantly and the natural area was demolished completely.
To begin with, the most striking changes occurred in the northeast of the village where a new recreational area with golf and tennis has been constructed, replacing the previous natural features such as farmland and a park. To the south of the large recreational zone under a road a new parking area has been built while a hotel and a cafe in front of it have remained unchanged. Meanwhile, a fishing port in the south of the village in the sea has been demolished.
There were also major developments in the southwest where a fish market in the south of the road has been replaced by a row of apartments whereas the restaurants on the other side of the road have taken the place of the previous shops. The residential area in the north west has been enlarged with new detached houses. A new road in this zone was built connecting the previous one to the west.
