This graph illustrates the comparison between recycled materials which include papers & cardboard, glass containers, aluminium cans & plastics between a span of 28 years.
In 1982 recycling of paper & carboard started at 65 percent with a slight increase to 70 percent in 1986 and falling to 65 percent again in 1990, afterwards reaching an all time high in 1994 that was 80 percent, however, there was a steady decline in the rate till 2010 where it was at 70 percent. On the other hand glass containers at the beginning were at 50 percent taking a dip to 40 percent in 1990 & then reaching an all time high in 2010 where it was at 60 percent.
Aluminium cans weren’t recycled until 1986 when it started at 5 percent and reaching to a whopping 45 by 2010 while plastics showed a negligible increase over the span of 28 years.
