The line chart depicts recycling rates of different materials over the span of 29 years between 1982 and 2010. Paper and Cardboard has the highest recycling rate over the years. While, plastic has the lowest percentage with even less than 10% at the end of 2010.

For Paper and Cardboard, there has been a decline in rate in 1990 and then a steep increase in 1994, but after that there has been a constant decline in recycling rate. Similarly, for Glass containers there has been a constant drop in rate from 1982 to 1990 but later on had a significant increase in percentage till 2010.For Aluminum cans there has been an exponential growth from no recycling in 1982 to less than 10% recycling rate in 1986 and then more than 40% rate of recycling in 2010.

Out of all the materials studied, Aluminum cans are the one with the most spontaneous and exponential growth and plastic cans are the one with least growth over the years.
