The bar chart illustrates how many trips are made by men and women for five certain purposes, namely day trip, sports or entertainment, visiting friends, shopping and travelling to work, within a year in a specific European nation.
Overall, travelling to work is the primary driving motivation for men’s travels while women show a strong preference for shopping. Regarding other activities, trips are more evenly distributed between the sexes.
In terms of work-related travels, there is a remarkable difference between the two genders. Men significantly outnumber women, with figures exceeding 320 trips a year, yet women embark on just over 200 excursions In contrast, shopping activity follows a reverse trend, in which women surpass nearly 100 trips, compared to their male counterparts.
Looking at social and leisure activities, the numbers are substantially less varied between men and women. Given the day trip, this is the least participated activity, with figures only reaching under 50 travels throughout the year. Therefore, the gap between men and women’s trip numbers is not as considerable as shopping and travelling to work.
