Generally speaking, it can be observed that the percentage of people living in urban areas significantly increased, while the number of citizens living in the countryside dropped dramatically for both Australians and non-Australians. The percentage of town residents remained stable for both nationalities over the given period.

Looking at the most striking feature, the percentage of city residents had a sharp increase for both nationalities, with a 20% higher rate in 2010 compared to the initial year of the period. In 1995, approximately 50% of people were born in Australia and 60% were born outside Australia.
