The graph gives information about the rates of world illiteracy in terms of region and gender for the last year.
Overall it is clear that there was upward trend in the percentage of illiteracy of women and men in South Asia, while the opposite was true for developed countries over the given period. It is also worth mentioning that the difference between the largest and the smallest figures was significant.
Looking at the details, it is clear that the proportion of female illiteracy made up the largest one. Women illiteracy acconted for 50 to 60 percent in Arab States and South Asia respectively. Sub seharan Africa contained over the 40 percent female illiteracy. In developed countries illiteracy accounted for the least share (about 2%)
On the other hand male illiteracy made up the lowest percentage than female. In Sub Seharan Africa, the Arab states and South Asia illiteracy rates carried out about 40$. Other remaining countries shared the smallest percentage (about 10%).
