Overall, it can be seen clearly from the graph that whilst bowling was the least popular activity, teenagers in Chester tended to watch television during the surveyed period. Besides, the first three activities consisting of going to pubs/discos, watching television and shopping showed generally an upward trend, while others either decreased or fluctuated.
Throughout the years, watching television still maintained the highest figure for weekly time consumption, starting at 25 hours in 2002, stayed the same for the next year and increased noticeably to nearly 38 hours in 2007. Similarly, both going to pubs or discos and shopping witnessed a steady rise, starting from roughly 7 hours and 6 hours to reach almost 17 hours and 15 hours in 2007 respectively.
On the other hand, it can be experienced obviously that the hours weekly for doing sports, bowling, and doing homework diminished steadly, at about 13 hours, 10 hours, and 5 hours respectively in 2002, then hit the lowest point at the last year of surveyed period. Moreover, bowling was also the least popular activity with its being less than 5 hours per week throughout the years. Meanwhile, watching DVDs was the only activity which depicting the mild fluctuation during the years, with nearly 11 hours at the beginning of the period, then reached a peak at approximately 17 hours in 2004, and plummeted to 10 hours in 2007.
