The bar graph illustrates the proportion of production as a share of total world output in Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world from 1840 to 2000.
Overall, Asia showed the largest proportions at the beginning and end of the period, while Europe was the second most popular for over four decades. Notably, the rest of the world always had low percentages during this period.
To begin with, the total world production share was 50% in Asia at the beginning of the period, whereas it consistently decreased in the following periods, reaching approximately 20% in 1920. After that, it dramatically rose to reach 40% in the final year. In addition, Europe’s share was the second major in 1840, rapidly increasing to 48%, and it continuously declined over the 60-year period.
In contrast, the rest of the world’s percentage started at 20% and soared significantly during this period, which is the least percentage compared to the other two continents between 1840 and 2000.
