Overall, a higher proportion of females choose to live alone than that of male counterparts, except for the three youngest demographics, from 16 to 49. Besides, as age increased, females tended to live alone while males showed the opposite trend. Additionally, the pie chart highlights that 2 bedrooms were the most pronounced for one person housing.
Looking first at the percentage of individuals living alone aged under 49, males surpassed that of females by a low margin in the 16 -24 age groups. This proportion of males increased gradually to around 65% in the 35-49 age bracket before rebounding to nearly 50% in the next 14 ages. In contrast, in the age groups 65 and above, females constituted the majority with around 75% single occupants in the 65 and above age groups.
Regarding the number of bedrooms, the highest percentage of one-person households feature 2 bedrooms with 34.5%. Followed by 3 bedrooms and 1 bedroom with 29.8% and 28.0% respectively, of the total. Notably, the 4 bedrooms sector reflected 5.3%, which was higher than that of 5 or more bedrooms 3.9%.
