The bar chart illustrates three major reasons of land degradation in four distinct regions worldwide.
Overall, breeding causes the most size of damaged land in most of the surveyed areas. In addition, Europe witnessed the most minor destruction to its land.
The area of devastated land caused by breeding in Africa is 500 million hectares, compared to the figures in Asia and Australia with about 400 and 300 million hectares respectively. Meanwhile, this factor is only responsible for around 200 million hectares of damaged land in Europe.
The size of destroyed fand due to tree-cutting in Asia is approximately 470 million hectares, and the figure in Africa is considerably lower with about 360 million hectares. In addition, almost equal data can be recorded in Australia and Europe with around 100 million hectares of land dannaged by this reason. Similarities can be witnessed in the sizes of damaged land by farming, which are nearly 450 million hectares for Asia, 300 million hectares for Africa and under 100 for Australia and Europe.
