The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of school children learning to play four different musical instruments (including violin, guitar, piano, drums) in 2005, 2010 and 2015.
Overall, it can be seen that the figure for students playing musical instruments increased for all types except violin. Additionally, guitar and piano were the most popular among others.
In terms of guitar and piano, in 2005, the figure for both started at the same point, at about 11%. However, the figure for piano was 2% higher than that of guitar in 2010. In 2015, the percentage of students playing piano and guitar rose significantly to approximately 35% and 37% respectively.
With regards to the two less common types of musical instruments, the figure for drums remained unchanged at almost 5% in 2005 and 2010, then increased slightly to about 8% in 2015. In contrast, the share of students playing violin stood at approximately 10% before falling slightly slowly to 5% in 2015.
