The chart displays the number of cinema ticket purchases per person in the countries of Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany between the years 2005 and 2020, in addition to a line graph which tracked the price for admission during the same time period.
Overall, cinema admissions per person have risen steadily in Japan and the United Kingdom. Germany followed that trend, then diverged from its upward trajectory in 2014, and continued to decline. The positive trend in admissions was also reflected in ticket prices, which have linearly and steadily increased in the same time period.
The United Kingdom, which held the highest amount of admissions per person (3) between the three countries in 2005, followed closely by Germany with 2.5 admissions per person, and lastly Japan with 1.5. This pattern repeated. until 2014, when Germany saw a decline of approximately 0.4 tickets per person between 2011 and 2014, and this trend continued, which allowed Japan to finally overtake Germany in admissions in 2020.
As the universal demand for tickets increased, so did the price, with the average ticket price starting out at 7 dollars in 2006 and ending at 9.5 dollars in 2020, as demonstrated by a steady linear increase.
