The bar charts depicts the amount of electricity generated and used by 10 countries in 2014. Overall, China, United States and Russia stood the highest three positions in terms of electricity production and consumption, while all countries but Germany are self-sufficient in power generation.
Among the ten countries, China and U.S. are capable to generate significantly greater amount of electrical power, at 5398kWh and 4099kWh, respectively. Similarly, their electricity consumption also ranked the highest at 5322kWh and 3866kWh, respectively. The third position was stood by Russia where both electricity generation and usage are four times lower than the U.S. Japan ranked fourth among the countries but was decidedly the top among Asian nations, with generation at 936.2kWh and consumption at 856.7kWh.
The fifth country was also an Asian country, India, which generated 871kWh and consumed 698.8kWh in 2014. The next three countries, Canada, France and Brazil, had almost similar capacity in electricity production, generating within the range of 530 to 620kWh electricity in 2014. Their consumption were also similar at 450kWh to 500kWh. Germany was the only country where consumption (582.5kWh) exceeded production (526.6kWh). Lastly, Korean Republic generated only 485.1kWh electricity and used 448.5kWh in 2014.
Interestingly, United States, India, Canada, and France were the only four countries that produced considerably higher electricity than needed, each with a surplus of more than 100kWh.
