Overall, in the early year, the family spent most of their income on food. However, after 50 years, leisure activities became the largest spending category while the amount spent on household goods remained same over the years.

It is clear from the chart, in 1968, spending on food, fuel and power, clothing and footwear and personal goods were 35%, 7%, 10% and 8% of the total salary respectively whereas in 2018,

people started to invest less than before on these items that is 18% on food, 4% on fuel and personal goods and 5% on clothing and footwear. On the other side, expenditure for housing, transport and leisure which were initially 10%, 8% and 9% respectively in 1968 were increased and reached to 20%, 15% and 23% respectively. Household goods expense remained constant at around 8% in both years.
