The bar graphs depict the amount of electricity produced with use of renewable energies like solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, plant and animal matter, and non-renewable energies such as petroleum, nuclear, natural gas and coal in the United States particularly, for 2009 and 2019.
In case of non-renewable sources, the major contribution is of coal followed by natural gas, nuclear, and petroleum. The coal generated 1756 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and dropped to 966 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019. Likewise, petroleum made 57 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and decline to 40 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019. Contrasting, natural gas produced 921 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and escalated to 1582 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019. Moreover, Nuclear energy accounts for 437 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and with slight increase reached to 809 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019.
The cumulative electricity generated by renewable energies is 437 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and rose to 720 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019. Moreover, the Hydroelectric had a large chunk of 273 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and 2019. Additionally, the Wind energy made 94 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and dramatically increased to 300 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019. Subsequently, the Plant and animal matter with minimal changes of 54 and 58 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009 and 2019. Furthermore, the Geothermal and solar energies produced least in 2009 and 2019 respectively.
Combining the data of 2009 and 2019 the highest electricity was generated by coal, though there was a significant decline in amount. On the other hand, the geothermal energy was at the bottom with 31billion kilowatt-hours.
