The bar chart gives information about undergraduate and graduate student housing at one US university in 2013.
Overall, undergraduate students gave preference to a shared type of accommodation, whereas graduates’ choice fell mainly on a single type of housing. At the same time, most undergraduates lived in university dormitories while the biggest number of graduates opted for a shared apartment.
With regard to undergraduate students, the first most popular option was university dormitories with slightly more than 4000 young people living there. A shared apartment became the second most preferable alternative and stood at just a few hundred students less in dormitories. At the same time, the majority of graduates lived in shared apartments as well, with the number of a little more than a thousand people illustrated on the chart.
On the other hand, undergraduates had a tendency to choose a shared type of housing, such as a shared apartment and shared house much more often than graduates. For a shared apartment, there were more than twice as many undergraduates as graduates. Conversely, for shared houses there were almost twice as many graduate students as undergraduate ones.
