The chart illustrates the number of students from four different countries, applying for European university. Overall, Chinese and American students showed a higher figure. The reverse can be observed other countries, including Russian and Japan students.
The number of Chinese students applying for an European university started at about 30000 in 2004, this was followed by a slight decline to 20000 in 2005. The figure then remained unchanged for the next two years, dropping to 150000 in the last year. The figure for American students began at 20000 in 2004, it decreased to 15000 in 2005. After a slight growth to 170000 in 2006, it then declined to 10000 in 2007. It witnessed a significant rise to about 30000 in 2007.
In contrast, the number of students from Japan started at 5000 in the first year. It continued to increase minimally over the years, reaching 10000 in 2008. There were just little Russian students figure in 2004, but it started increasing slightly during the years. Despite a slight growth to 8000 in 2007, the figure then experienced a considerable reduction to around 500 in 2008.
