The bar chart illustrates two different type of accommodation people from England and Wales live in, one of it been owned and other been rented accommodation. It depicts nearly a century of period from 1918 to 2011.
Overall, there is an increase in the trend of owning a house and decrease in living in a rented place. In the year 1971 it seems that people in England and Wales were equally interested in buy and renting a place to live in.
Renting a house was more preferred by people in 1918 were almost 80% were living in rented adobe but saw a substantial decrease to 30% till the year 2001. But in the year 2011 there was yet again a slight growth in rented accommodation.
In the year 1918 from about 20% to almost 70% in the year 2001 there was a steady growth in having the ownership of the house in the people. But similar to renting, owning a place saw 3%-4% decrease in 2011.
