Overall,during the first half of the period ,the percentage of households in rented accommodation was higher than that of those owning their home .in contrast ,in the second half of the period ,the proportion of household in owned was higher than that of those renting their home
In 1918,the percentage of households in rented accommodation accounted for over 75%,triple than that of those in owned accommodation. The figure for rented dropped slightly from 75% to over 70% from 1918 to 1939.Moreover,the proportion of household in rented accommodation remain unchanged at over 70% from 1939 to 1953.In the next 18 years,this figure dropped significantly to 50%.By contrast ,the percentage of household in owned accommodation standing at under 25% at 1918,remaining stable at around 30% from 1939 to 1953 and the next 18 years this figure increased considerably at 50% equal to that of those in rented accommodation
From 1971 to 2011 .the proportion of families owned continued rising and peaked at over 70% before dropping by 5% in 2011.In contrast ,the percentage of household rented accommodation felt quickly from 50% to over 30% before a small rose by 5%
