Household renting accommodation rate in England and Wales was about 77% in 1918. Then it fell down to almost 67%and remained constant for 14 years. However, after 1953, it continued to decline steadily at 10% approximately until 1991.After that, it reached its low point of about 32% in 2001 and rose up to almost 36% in 2011.
Percentage of household owning accommodation was about 24% in 1918, which rose to around 33% in 1939 and remained steady for 14 years. Then, the figure experienced a constant growth until the graph reaches its high point of about 70% in 2001. However, the household owning accommodation fell down by around 6% in 2011 at the end of the survey.
