The bar chart compares the proportion of people in a city in the UK using the internet for different activities – shopping, banking, music, job seeking, games, learning and TV- in two different years: 2007 and 2009.
Overall, the figures for shopping, job seeking and TV exhibited an upward trend, while the reverse was true for banking, music, and learning. Meanwhile, the percentage of games stayed stable over the period. Shopping kept the leading position throughout the period
Regarding rising trends, the percentage of people shopping online increased markedly from about 45% in 2007 to 50% in 2009. Similarly, the figures for job seeking and TV saw noticeable growth from around 25% and 15% at the beginning to 30% and 20% by the final year, respectively.
By contrast, there was a marked decline in the share of banking and music from 40% and 37% in 2007 to 35% and 30% in 2009. Similarly, starting from 20% in 2007, the percentage of learning decreased slightly to 15% in 2009.
The proportion of games stayed unchanged over the entire period. It remained at 20%.
