The chart illustrates the proportion of the population in the UK who consumed the recommended daily amount of fruits and vegetables in 2002, 2006, and 2010.Overall, the proportion of female consumers was the highest among others ( men, children). This was followed by male and young consumers. Interestingly, almost the same pattern was observed throughout the years.
In 2002, the highest proportion of the population who ate recommended food was recorded for women, at 25%. Secondly, men were at 22%. Moreover, children had the smallest share, at 11%.
Turning to 2006, all patterns changed significantly. While the proportion of female consumers rose dramatically to 32%, the figure for men increased slightly. The percentages for children rose from 11% to 16%.
In 2010, not only the figures for young consumers but also male and female consumers declined noticeably. The highest proportion was under 27, women were at 26% marginally higher than men were at 24%. In contrast, the consumption of children made up only 16%.
