Overall, the trend shows a significant increase in the number of female students enrolled in higher education in all the countries except Australia. Among them, South Korea recorded the lowest rate of female students’ enrollment in 2015 compared to 1980.
In 1980, the UK and the USA both had similar percentages at slightly above 30%, which rose noticeably to just below 60% in 2015. Conversely, there was the smallest increment in France from around 50% in 1980 to nearly 60% in 2015.
On the other hand, Australia remained constant at around 60% in both years, with the highest percentages equivalent to the USA. Similarly, the percentage of female students in South Korea pursuing higher education was approximately 15% in the initial year, and it doubled in the final year to 30%.
