The bar chart illustrates the the percentage of women, men and children comsuming five servings of fruit and vegetables each day during the period of eight years from 2001 to 2008.
Overally, it can be clearly seen that the highest percentage of all people eating fruits and vegetables was women, and the lowest proportion was children. In addition, there was a gradual upward trend from 2001 to 2006 before a slight decline in the last two years.
The percentage of women rose steadily during the first five years from the lowest point of 20% to reach the peak of approximately 35 % in 2006. After that, it decreased by a small margin to less than 30% in 2008.
In terms of men and children, the proportion of people who ate these food items remained static from 2001 to 2003 (relatively 17% for men and 12% for children). Following that, the ratio of men soared and hit the highest, 27% in 2007 and minimally dipped by a small percentage of about 2%. A similar improvement in the figure for children was obvious reaching the peak of 26% in 2007 and 25% in 2008.
