The bar charts illustrate two information about the figure for marriage and divorce and the comparison of four marital status in USA during 1970 to 2000. In 3 decades, it clearly knows that a downward trend of the number of marriages; additionally, the most popular marital status was married by both years.
2.5 million people were married in 1970 and it drop slightly year by year until hit the lowest point of 2 million couple in 2000. By contrast, the figure for divorces only represents 1 million in 1970 and then it rose to near 1.5 in 1980. over a span of 20 years, the figure for divorces was back to the original, accounting for 1 million people.
As shown in the second chart, it shows four statements of never married, married, widowed and divorced. The status of married was the highest percentage compared with another status, represented 70% and 60% between 1970 and 2000 respectively. However, some citizen who don’t want a married accounted for 15 % in 1970 and increased to 20% in 2000. The proportion of widowed and divorced both under 10% during the period.
