The pie charts illustrate the alteration in the percentage of energy production in five distinct resources of a country in 1850 and 2003.
Overall, it is noticeable that oil retained its prominence which produced the most significant energy in both years. Additionally, while there was a minor decrease in the energy production of oil, the remaining observed an increase except for Hydro remained unchanged.
The three primary energy sources in 1985 were oil, nuclear, and natural gas with 52%, 22%, and 23%, respectively. However, whilst oil dropped its share to 39%, natural gas saw a remarkable increase to just under a quarter and became the second-highest energy source. Meanwhile, from the second position, nuclear power became less significant with a decrease from 22% to 8% in 2003.
In terms of the remaining, coal saw a sharp increase, rising to 22% in 2003, marking a considerable elevation from its 1983 proportion of 8%. While other renewables accounted for the smallest fraction at 1% in 1983, this category rose slightly to 4% reaching parity with Hydroelectric power.
