The presented line charts display the data of dramatic changes in washing machines, fridges and vacuum cleaners ownership and the housework time per week in each households of particular country in the period of time between 1920 and 2019.
Overall, the appliances usage degree was increasing during the whole century and reached its peak in the end of the period, when almost every household kept all three devices. The amount of time spent per week for washing clothes, cooking and cleaning was dramatically decreasing till 2019.
Looking at the details, in 1920, only a third part of local families had a laundry equipment and a vacuum cleaner, while practically nobody had a refrigerator. Then, in 1940, more than a half of households had these electrical appliances, while in 1980, all houses had a fridge, almost each family unit had a vacuum cleaner and the most families had washing machine. In 2019, coolers and vacuum cleaners could be found in each household franchise, while machines for washing clothes were in 75% of local houses.
In1920, 50 hours per week were spent doing housework, while in 1960, this time was decreased in twice. In the end of the period, in 2019, housewives needed only 10 hours a week for washing, cleaning and cooking.
