The pie charts compare and contrast the proportion of five sorts of distinct books sold by booksellers over a period of 30 years from 1972 to 2012.
It is apparent that the percentage of books of adult’s fiction books and children’s fiction books sold had a noticeable enhancement. By contrast, the figures for biographies and other types of books sold declined, besides the proportion of travel books bought had some fluctuations.
To be more specific, commencing at 20% in 1972, the rate of adult’s fiction books then significantly rose to 45% in 2012, which was twice as high as the rate in 1972. Similarly, the percentage of children’s fiction books bought had a gradually increasing trend from 20% in 1972 to 22% in 1992 and 25% in 1012.
Besides, the percentage of biography books, which dropped from 20% in 1972 to 15% in 1992, continued to sharply decline to 8% in 2012. A similar trend could be seen in the rate of other types of books sold, which slightly went down from 25% to 12 from 1972 to 2012.
The proportion of travel books which fluctuated over the given period of 30 years ranged from 10% to 18%.
