The three pie charts compare the sales of five different kinds of books: adult fiction, children’s fiction, biography, travel, and others, by a bookseller during the period of 1972 to 2012.
It is clearly evident that the distribution of fiction escalated, whereas the sale of other genres of books declined over the years. The popularity for fiction books inclined over the period, with adult fiction selling 20% of the total in 1972, 25% in 1992, and ultimately selling 45% in 2012, being the highest seller. The sales of children’s fiction rose by 5% over the decades.
In contrast, the publics interest for books of biography, travel and others decreased. In 1972, the selling of bibilography, travelling, and others comprised 20%, 15%, and 25% repectively. It later dropped to 8%, 10%, and 12% respectively.
Overall, the changes in the trend of books implicates that the fiction books gain popularity; nonetheless, other categories liking plunged. The reasons for such change might be due to the attractions caused by fiction movies like Superman, Spiderman, and many more.
