Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the percentage of males enjoying the leisure time consistently higher than that of females throughout the period, although this gap narrowed significantly by 2006 compared to 1996. In the term of leisure destinations in 2006, the beach was the most popular choice for both genders, while males showed a stronger inclination towards pop centre, museum and KTV, females preferred cinames.
In 1996, approximately 85% of males enjoyed leisure time, remarkably higher than 40% of females. Males participant in leisure activities saw a continuous decline, dropping to 80% in 2001, and further roughly 65% in 2006. In contrast, females participation initially increased nearly 60% in 2001, and subsequently rose to over 60%, thereby narrowing the gap with the percentage of males enjoying the leisure time.
Regarding the leisure destinations in 2006, the beach was the most well-liked choice for both males and females, with 30% of females and 25% of males choosing it. Cinemas attracted 25% of females but only 10% of males opting for it. In addition, it is noticeable that the proportion of males favouring the Pop Centre was double that of females. In both the museum and KTV, males was preferred by a higher perceentage of males than females when considering various spare time destinations.
