The pie chart represents the difference in percentage of people volunteering in various kinds of organizations between 2008 and 2014.
In 2008, nearly a quarter of volunteers were providing their help in educational organizations, just over a fifth took part in environmental projects, and 18% of voluntary workers participated in art tasks. Sports and other types of organizations had the same percentage of volunteers, which was 15%. Unfortunately, not many people volunteered in healthcare – just 7%.
In 2014, more volunteers worked in environmental and sports organizations, at 29% and 25%, respectively. Meanwhile, the amount of volunteers in art and other fields both fell by 6%. There was also a slight decrease from 24% to 17% in volunteers who offered their services for educational organizations. Healthcare volunteering stayed the least preferred option, at only 8%.
Overall, since 2008 and throughout the six years until 2014, the percentage of those who participated in environmental, sports, and healthcare volunteering programs increased. While in art, educational, and other organizations, there were some slight falls. It should be mentioned that volunteering in healthcare was the least popular one at all times.
