The pie chart illustrates the proportion of water used for industry, agriculture and daily activities in six different areas in the World.
At first glance, it is obvious that the percentage of water used for agriculture is highest in all areas except North America and Europe while that for daily activities is low in six regions.
First, it can be seen that in most areas, the water used for agriculture accounts for the most significant figure with 71% in South America, 84% in Africa, 88% in Central Asia and 81% in South East Asia. Meanwhile, the figure for the agricultural use in North America and Europe is lower, 39% and 32%, respectively.
In terms of the other purposes, while in North America and Europe, the water use for industry comprises a half of the total amount of water, the water use for daily activities takes up nearly a fourth of the total. Moreover, the percentage of the water use for industrial and domestic use in the other areas consists of a small amount of the total, about 20% of the total amount.
