The data presents the proportion of water used for various purposes at distinct sites around the world.
Overall, in numerous regions, the use of water for agricultural purposes surpassed other uses, with the industrial sector being the second-largest sector. Furthermore, the domestic department repeatedly accounts for the least significant share of water use.
The percentage of agricultural use mostly dominates across South America, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, where it accounts for 71%, 84%, 88%, and 81% of the total usage, respectively. Moreover, industrial consumption in these areas is rare; for example, Central Asia uses the least(5%).
On the other hand, industrial use is the most common in both North America and Europe, where it constitutes 48% and 53% of the overall consumption, respectively. The proportions allocated to agriculture are significantly lower at 39% and 32%. However, domestic use remains the smallest part of total use across all areas, with an approximate average of 12%.
